i caught trey anastasio & the classic tab (trey anastasio band) at the tabernacle. the band was on fire. trey was the happiest i have seen him, of all the solo shows i have seen over the years. its hard not to have fun when the band is all smiles ear to ear for 3 plus hours. we arrived at the venue about 20 minutes before doors. jay, jermaine, bp & i secured a spot almost at the rail, in front of ray’s keyboard. while folks poured in, the entire taping crew got setup & ready for the marathon, thanks as always for the tapes, guys & girls. the first set was nonstop energy, from start to finish. Mozambique was one of my favorites. trey introduced natalie cressman, and the crowd went wild before tearing into it. she wore the ever popular “a laser pointer does not make you chris kuroda” tshirt for the first set. did i mention she can play the trombone incredibly well. after the first set, i moved to the back for a break, checking out each level in the tabernacle. on the whole, an incredibly fun evening. i am a little disappointed in my photos. i was really struggling with the auto-focus. maybe its time for that DSLR. using a camera with no completely manual settings has been a struggle. as usual the videos turned out good i think. although i couldn’t hold it up anymore & cut during Wilson. somehow i think the photos do the night justice though. bright, colorful, happy, and sometimes a little fuzzy around the edges. sounds just about right.
